Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez added the WBO super-middleweight belt to his burgeoning collection. He defeated Billy Joe Saunders in front of a record-breaking crowd inside Texas’ AT&T Stadium.

Former IBF/WBA junior middleweight champion Fernando Vargas lashed out at Billy Joe Saunders. Watching him quit on the stool made the boxing legend furious.

You quit like a female dog. How dare you do that. You’re an embarrassment to the sport and to all men because you’re not even a man. You should be embarrassed.”

Mark Tibbs, the trainer of Billy Joe Saunders was the one who pulled him out of the fight. However, boxing fans find it hard to believe his story as Saunders was seen shaking his head after the 8th round.

With three of the four recognized boxing world championships to his name. The next course of action for Alvarez is quite obvious, a title unification bout with IBF champion Caleb Plant.

Now that the former has gone through Saunders, Canelo Alvarez vs. Caleb Plant is the inevitable matchup. But English sports promoter Eddie Hearn thinks there are a couple of things that stand in the way of that happening.

However, with both boxers seemingly keen to make it happen, the fight is likely to happen soon for the second half of the year.
