WWE Legend Arn Anderson Is High on Roman Reigns, Questions WWE Over His Baby-Face Character in the Past

Roman Reigns looks on during the WWE Smackdown on September 1, 2015 at the American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida.

Arn Anderson voiced about Roman Reigns and the WWE’s ‘Baby-face’ narrative. The WWE Legend didn’t find the creative team’s plans with the superstar impressive.

In an episode of the ARN PodcastAnderson explains why Roman Reigns’ baby-face character failed. According to him, the WWE has stopped listening to the fans. Moreover, Anderson states the WWE is unwilling to change plans when it matters.

Reigns was doing some of the best work of his career as the “Tribal Chief”. However, fans have slowly started to turn on ‘The Big Dog’, because his wins are not feeling as though they are earned.,

“They (fans) don’t want him to be a nice guy, they don’t want him to be clever, they don’t want him to be entertaining and they certainly don’t want to see him spear five or six heels in a given time.” Anderson is strongly suggesting that the WWE is moving away from what makes Reigns likable by the fans.

Roman won the Universal Championship at SummerSlam 2020, declaring himself ‘The Tribal Chief’. Moreover, he was also able to retain his title in the main event of WrestleMania 37 Night 2, by pinning Edge and Daniel Bryan at the same time.

Whilst the fans are appreciative of his concerns towards the matter, they expect a different beast when Reigns steps inside the ring. They will always remember the ‘OG’ Reigns that broke onto the scene as part of ‘The Shield’. Since then, the fighter brought with him a certain aura and energy which the fans loved him for.

Conversely, ‘The Big Dog’ was one of the most polarising fighters in the WWE. However, the ‘baby-face’ or ‘soft’ version of the fighter is clearly not sitting well with the fans. With fans unappeased, it is expected that the WWE will soon make some significant changes.
