Jim Ross Admits Mike Tyson Fighting Stone Cold Steve Austin in Pro Wrestling Is a ‘Great Fantasy Booking’

Jim Ross Admits Mike Tyson Fighting Stone Cold Steve Austin in Pro Wrestling Is a 'Great Fantasy Booking'

Steve Austin fighting Mike Tyson would be a great Pro Wrestling fantasy match up according to Jim Ross.

Austin retired from WWE in 2003 and Tyson two years after that, from the world of boxing.

Both these legends have a huge following of their own despite their absence from their former Wrestling and Boxing lifestyles.

In a podcast, the former Executive Chairman of WWE said, “Austin taking on Tyson would be a great fantasy match up, but that’s all it will ever be, a fantasy.”

“Tyson has never set his foot in a wrestling ring. I do not think he will come out of retirement to wrestle Steve Austin, even for the coverage” said Ross.

Steve Austin has fought many tough opponents in Triple H, Shawn Michaels and the Rock and his encounters with them would still give Goosebumps to WWF fans

But, the Austin, Texas native never had the opportunity to take on Mike Tyson, who became a champions in his sport of boxing.

Steve Austin vs Mike Tyson would have been the hype in the 1990s

If both these legends had decided to take each other on during their prime years, then all media channels of the world would have covered this event.

In his eight years in the WWF Austin accumulated six championship belts and defended his title against many a worthy foe.

In the same way, Mike Tyson has fought tough opponents in Lennox Lewis and Evander Hollyfield and retained his belts on seven occasions.

But, both these legends do not have the stamina in them to start a fight and conclude with the same energy and dedication that they had in their prime years.

Moreover, at their current age building the stamina to perform in the ring would be quite difficult for Austin and Tyson as they do not train frequently.

Jim Ross believes that despite this major flaw, a fight between these giants would eclipse the viewership accumulated during Wresletlemania 14.

Therefore, Steve Austin vs Mike Tyson would be great paper, but not to witness.
