“I definitely want to be a part of it,” Beth Phoenix reveals the story of her surprise return at the Royal Rumble

After staying away from WWE for more than six years, WWE Hall of Famer Beth Phoenix returned suddenly to a Royal Rumble match in 2018. However, it was a one-night wrestling return for her, and she disappeared again.

Phoenix started her amateur wrestling career in high school and won several tournaments before starting professional wrestling training. She debuted the professional career in May 2001. At the beginning of her professional career, Firebird played with numerous companies, such as independent promotions, Shimmer Women Athletes, Ohio Valley Wrestling, and more.

Beth Phoenix signed a developmental contract with WWE in October 2005, and started with the Raw brand in May 2006. After that, Fabulous Firebird made many histories with WWE, including the three-time WWE Women’s Championship. Later, WWE inducted her to the Hall of Fame list in 2017.

In a recent interview with Rick Ucchino, Phoenix spoke about her WWE days and the surprise return in 2018. She also discussed her life after retirement. “At the time I left, I was entering a different kind of stage in my life. I wanted a family with someone who wanted the same things, and we’re ready for it. The big thing was, when I was with WWE, I felt that I had done everything I could do, and I didn’t see any change in front of me,” Phoenix conveyed.

Even though she left WWE in 2012, she joined again in 2017 as a part-time commentator. However, her entry at the Royal Rumble was a sudden plan, which shocked her fanbase. “It was such a cool moment, that I was like, dude, I was super nervous, I just had a baby like the previous year, but I was like, “you know what, this is a once in a lifetime thing and I definitely want to be a part of it,” said Beth Phoenix.

She left WWE again in 2019 and starter working as a Full-time NXT commentator. However, the 40-year-old diva will not appear in any fights in future.
