Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is all set to take on the DC universe with his latest flick ‘Black Adam’. The WWE superstar turned actor made an announcement on Saturday regarding the commencement of the shooting of his highly-anticipated DC verse movie ‘Black Adam’.
The Rock took to his Instagram handle while sharing a photo from the clapboard from the movie’s set, on the first day of his shoot.
The post reads as: “History in the making, extremely excited and what a humbling moment to share with you. Officially kicking off DAY 1 of filming our BLACK ADAM. Our Director and maestro, Jaume Collet-Serra.
Our Academy Award nominee (Joker), Director of Photography, Lawrence Sher. We have an all-star production crew – incredibly talented, galvanized, committed, and focused to raise the bar and deliver something SPECIAL for the world.”

Reportedly, famous Hollywood actor Pierce Brosnan has also joined the Black Adam’s star cast to depict the role of the classic DC sorcerer Dr. Fate. Discussing other characters, Aldis Hodge will portray the role of Hawkman while Noah Centineo and Quintessa Swindell will come up as Atom Smasher, and Cyclone respectively.

Black Adam portrays the story of an antagonist of the same name, a character played by Dwayne Johnson. We must also mention here that this character first appeared in DC Comics way back in the 1940s. The story talks about a mighty villain who slowly transformed into an anti-hero by the 2000s and made a reputation of demeaning every rule and ideology on his way. Besides, DC fans are speculating it as a perfect spinoff of 2019’s ‘Shazam!’. Moreover, the producers are further planning for a sequel named, ‘Shazam! The Fury Of The Gods’.
We must also mention here that Shazam and Black Adam come as the biggest arch-rivals in the DC Universe. While not many details are yet available about the storyline, DC fans can certainly think of witnessing another edge-of-the-seat thriller.
The movie is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who earlier worked with Dwayne Johnson in Disney’s ‘Jungle Cruise’. Discussing the writers, Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani wrote the latest outline of the script, with Adam Sztykiel crafting the previous draft.
Dwayne Johnson, along with his business partners Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions have taken the charge of the production. Besides, Beau Flynn of Flynn Picture Co will be taking care of the executive production process. The movie is reportedly going to hit the theaters on July 29, 2022.
