‘We Were Not Physical Enough’ Marc Gasol Reasons Lack of Physical Competence for Lakers Loss to Celtics

Marc Gasol

The Los Angeles Lakers slumped to an embarrassing loss against the Boston Celtics on Thursday night. Their performances have got increasingly dismal as they have sidelined their star players. In the absence of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, the team has looked hapless in defense. Some players like Marc Gasol and Dennis Schroder have tried to steady the ship. Their efforts have born fruit in some games.

However, that was not the case in the match against the Celtics. They dominated the Lakers for the entirety of four quarters and the latter could not cope with the pressure.

In the post-game press conference, Marc Gasol talked about how the team did not get physical and let the opponents walk all over them. He said, “We Were kind of attacking what they were giving us on the offensive end. However, we could not get enough stops.”

He continued, “They were too comfortable on offense and were getting to the spots they wanted. We were not physical enough. When we got them to miss, we did not box out or take advantage of those mistakes. We should have transitioned them into good plays. I thought we got good shots for most of the night but we did not make enough stops.”

Marc Gasol and the Lakers lose yet another game

It was a disappointing game for the LA outfit as their championship hopes took yet another beating. Their transition plays were not up to the mark and the Celtics dominated on all areas of the court.

The Los Angeles Lakers are fifth in the Western Conference standings. At the moment, they are well in contention for the playoff spots. However, they would want to improve their performances ahead of the business end of the campaign.
