WBO Super Intermediate Champion Billy Joe Saunders Debuts in America

 

Billy Joe Saunders will defend the WBO Super Middle-Class title in Los Angeles, United States, on November 9th. Special, Saunders will make his debut fighting in the US when the fight to defend the championship belt.

Not yet known who the opponent will face the British boxer. The plan, the name of the challenger Saunders will be officially announced next week. “It feels like my professional debut again,” Saunders said.

Although the Saunders fight is a title struggle, however, the status of the duel is not the main party. Saunders’ fight only became an additional party from a duel between YouTube rivals KSI and Logan Paul at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, USA.

“I am very excited to fight in front of American fans for the first time in my professional career. The Staples Center is an unbelievable place and I have heard that 20,000 people are expected to come,” he said excitedly.

Saunders (28-0-13KO) won the world championship earlier this year when he surpassed Shefast Isufi at Stevenage to claim a belt in the 76.2kg class. Since then, Saunders has signed a battle agreement with Matchroom. He hopes to make an impressive debut in America in order to open the way to fight with Callum Smith, Saul Canelo Alvarez, and Gennady Golovkin. “This is a great opportunity to get new fans and an opportunity to use my name in America. 

KSI vs Logan Paul’s rematch really hook the imagination of the British and American public and that is something that sells, it will be a good show, “he explained. Saunders does not make an issue with the status of the battle only became an additional party from the KSI vs Logan Paul duel. Matchroom Sport managing director Eddie Hearn appreciated his work with Saunders as a mutually beneficial collaboration. ” 

“I am very happy that Billy will make his US debut on November 9 at the amazing Staples Center,” he said. 

“Everyone in sports knows that he is one of the best out there weighing 72.5kg and 76.2kg and he wants the chance to prove that he is the best,” he continued.
