Aljamain Sterling will certainly fight Petr Yan again to defend his Bantamweight title. But his health is not in good condition right now, and he wants to recover fully before returning to the octagon. The Funk Master expects to take Yan later this year.
Sterling recently appeared in an interview where he talked about his upcoming rematch against No Mercy. However, they met on March 6, and Yan got disqualified due to an illegal knee. After the fight, UFC president Dana White invited them for a rematch, and they both agreed.
Now that White asked Sterling for a possible date, Sterling is not sure yet as he is having some issues with his neck. “I am having some issues with my neck again so we’re just trying to figure out what’s the next step’s going to be if we’re going to try to push through one more training camp,” the 31-year-old conveyed.
He has been facing some health issues for the last ten years and planned for surgery last year. But he could not do it as he was preparing to fight Yan.
Following the last fight against the Russian, Sterling faced a new issue with his muscle. He conveyed, I’m starting to deal with a little bit of muscle weakness in my left arm and my and a little bit of atrophy in my left triceps and it sucks you know I’ve been dealing with this for about 10 years now.”
Sterling will solve his health issues first before settling for another fight against Yan.
What happened to Aljamain Sterling vs Petr Yan’s first fight?
