Unable to Chase Marquez, Dovizioso Finally Surrenders

Andrea Dovizioso finally raised the white flag. The hope of the Winnow Ducati racer to become the 2019 MotoGP world champion has vanished.

Dovi, Dovizioso’s nickname, claimed to have given up competing with Repsol Honda rider Marc Marquez. Marquez’s victory at the San Marino Grand Prix last weekend was one of the reasons he chose to forget his dream of becoming a MotoGP world champion this year.

Moreover, Dovizioso was only able to occupy the sixth position in the race. Because the Ducati motorbike that he rode did not run according to his expectations. With that result, Dovizioso is falling further behind in the 2019 MotoGP standings.

Currently, he is still ranked second by collecting 182 points or 93 points behind Marquez. Despite still leaving six races, Dovi admitted it was very difficult to catch Marquez at the top. “There is no need to fly the white flag,” Dovizioso was reported by motorsports.

“The difference is already big, so we can only try and bring it back to the maximum. But, we cannot talk about trying to catch up if we finish behind in the race, “he said.

Dovi deserves to be pessimistic about his hopes of winning the title this year. Because Marquez appeared extraordinary throughout this season. Of the 13 races, he only failed to finish once that happened in Austin. The rest are always on the podium, including winning seven wins.

This condition is at the same time one of the reasons for not discussing the issue of his chances in the struggle for the world title. Even so, Dovizioso will still try to get back to the front row at the GP Aragon this weekend.

He hopes the Ducati Desmosedici GP19 motorbike can be repaired and upgraded by his team.

“Last year, we fought for victory with Marquez and in the end, there were also other drivers, (Andrea) Iannone (Suzuki). But, now Yamaha riders are also starting to improve, so I hope we can become competitive at Aragon.

We must try to stay calm and bring maximum results. We cannot do anything else, “he said. Meanwhile, Honda CRR rider Cal Crutchlow did not expect Marquez to have an impressive race throughout the year, including at San Marino.

The reason, he became the only racer from the Japanese manufacturer in the top 10 positions. While Marquez’s teammate, Jorge Lorenzo, only finished in the 14th position. The British racer also considered Marquez really get a miracle in the fight for the MotoGP world title this season.

Because he who uses a Honda RC213V similarly drove is very different from Marquez’s. What’s more, Crutchlow failed to finish the race to finish. “I tried to go as fast as possible without crashing, but in the end, I fell,” said Crutchlow.

“This shows that I have no speed. I fight every turn, I don’t have strong turns throughout the race. I feel uncomfortable with the motorbike. Marquez made a miracle, it’s very simple he did it, “he said.
