Conor McGregor is predicted to still not win even if he fights again with Khabib Nurmagomedov at the UFC. What is the reason?
McGregor, who had just won over Donald Cerrone at UFC 249 in mid-January, is known to have defeated Khabib in October 2018. Losing in submission becomes a picture of how overwhelmed the Dublin free fighter faced Khabib.
Although McGregor claimed at the time that he was not serious about training and often got drunk ahead of the duel, there was one more factor that made McGregor difficult to win against Khabib, if both of them agreed to a rematch.
“As a bettor, I would not want to be across people from wrestlers (like Khabib),” UFC light heavyweight world champion Jon Jones told TMZ Sports.
‘A wrestler has the power to dictate the course of a fight. Will he continue to stand or fight on the floor like jujutsu.’
‘So in my opinion, control is always in the hands of Khabib. Conor clearly has a chance, but if I have to bet, I will clearly put my money for Khabib,’ continued the American fighter.
In their first meeting, Khabib, who mastered judo and sambo, did indeed attack McGregor by wrestling rather than fighting kickboxing. He also won by locking McGregor’s neck, making it difficult to breathe.
At present, McGregor is not yet scheduled to meet anyone, while Khabib will fight Tony Ferguson to defend his title in April in New York.
