Defending champion welterweight UFC, Kamaru Usman, responds to Conor McGregor’s interest in Welterweight Championship. He appealed to The Notorious to bury his dream.

McGregor returned to the octagon ring to face Donald “The Cowboy” Cerrone on January 18, 2020, in Las Vegas, United States. Both of them competed in the 77 kg welterweight.

Before the match, McGregor boasted that he wanted to continue to fight in the 77kg class. The 31-year-old fighter wanted to continue the match against Jorge Masvidal and Usman, to win the UFC welterweight belt.

‘I will face Jorge. I don’t fight at 77 kg to fight Jorge alone,’ McGregor was quoted as saying by Metro.

“I like to see the welterweight class, the race for champions there. I am happy to see Kamaru Usman, Colby (Covington). I am open to all in the 77 kg class,” he continued.

McGregor’s statement was immediately responded by Usman shortly after. Through social media Twitter, the fighter nicknamed Nigerian Nightmare asked the Irish athlete not to face him in the welterweight class if he didn’t want to have nightmares.

‘My man @TheNotoriousMMA, just hope to hold on and take L from the Cowboy. Never dream of a WW belt because that dream can become a nightmare quickly,’ Usman said.

In December 2019, Usman had just defended his world welterweight title against Colby Covington. He won TKO in the fifth round.
