Wiz Khalifa Calls Jon Jones His “Favourite Fighter of all time!” in The UFC

Jon Jones

Wiz Khalifa is an avid supporter of combat sports. Speaking to ESPN, he reveals that his favorite fighter of all time is the former light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones.

“My favorite fighter of all time is Jon Jones, for sure.” The rapper feels that Jones is one of the best ‘all round’ fighters in UFC. Moreover, he also admits that he models himself after Jones. Conversely, Wiz truly considers himself one of ‘Bones’ biggest fans.

Furthermore, Wiz adds, ” I like his body type, I like how he fights.” Having started training in MMA, Wiz recognizes the different techniques and art forms that Jones implements in his game. As such, he has a great appreciation for Jon’s wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu in particular.

Recently, Jon has been at war with the UFC. He wants an upgrade on his contract and a fight with the new heavyweight champ, Francis Ngannou. However, the UFC has turned a blind eye to Jones’ demands, causing the fighter to go on a Twitter tirade earlier this month.

Fortunately, Ngannou sympathizes with Jon and has publicly voiced his support for him. Since then, talks have seemingly picked up pace and Jon has also started training again. He has yet to make his heavyweight debut after vacating his light heavyweight title.

What’s Next for Jon Jones?

Jones is currently No.1 in the Men’s Pound rankings. A fight against the heavyweight champion Ngannou would certainly make for one of the biggest showdowns. However, the UFC feels that Jones is not yet deserving of a title shot.

Instead, UFC President Dana White has openly touted a match between Jon and Derrick Lewis. In a way, it would serve as a perfect build-up fight as Lewis is the only active loss of Francis’ career. Despite this, fans are more eager to watch Jones and Ngannou take to the Octagon.

The matchup is a ‘no brainer’ according to the MMA Community. If it happens, the fight will surely be in the top 5 UFC PPV of all time. Although there are no confirmations right away, fans and fighters will be hoping for positive news in the summer.
