Vicente Luque recently opened up about his fight at UFC 260. He fought Tyron Woodley in a three-round co-main event of the night.
As it turned out, Vicente triumphed over Woodley via submission. Even though Vicente had a rocky start to the fight, he gradually started to grow into it. Woodley started the fight brightly and seemed to be getting the better of Luque.
Whilst Woodley landed some good strong shots, Vicente was just able to gather his nerve and fight back. Soon after, Luque started to fight fire with fire. Fortunately, he was able to counter Woodley right when the latter thought he had the upper hand.
Luque stunned Woodley with a quick counter and landed some incisive shots. As a result, Woodley became rather ‘woozy’ and struggled to stay on his feet. Vicente then maneuvered quickly to create a D’Arche Choke and make Woodley submit.
Talking to ESPN MMA, Luque reveals that “It has always been my dream” in reference to fighting Woodley. His win took him to 3 consecutive wins whilst for Woodley, it became his 4th consecutive defeat.

Vicente Luque and his Big Plans
In his post-match interview, Vicente Luque called out Nate Diaz. Unfortunately, the UFC decided that Diaz will take on Leon Edwards in his comeback fight. He also revealed that he would’ve liked to fight Jorge Masvidal, who got scheduled to fight Kamaru Usman instead.

Since then, Luque has spoken about ‘running it back’ against the two fighters he previously lost to. Vicente’s losses came against Leon Edwards and Stephen Thompson at UFC Fight Night: Manuwa vs. Anderson and UFC 244 respectively. However, Luque feels that he has developed into a better fighter since then.
Luque has also said that he would like to fight Colby Covington next. He feels that he needs to take out some strong contenders on his way to the title. Also, he wishes that Kamaru Usman is still champion by the time he is in a position to contend. He revealed that they are old friends and hence, he would love to be the one to ‘dethrone’ him.
