In a recent interview, Jan Blachowicz spoke about his upcoming bout with Glover Teixeira. Moreover, Blachowicz believes he will be fighting the best version of Glover yet.
Jan Blachowicz is fresh off the back of two consecutive title bouts. Against Dominick Reyes, Jan claimed Jon Jones’ vacated light heavyweight title. Shortly after, he defended it against middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya.
However, Jan believes that his toughest challenge yet could well be the 41-year-old, Glover Teixeira. “I have to be careful, you know because it could also be his last fight”, says Blachowicz. He feels that Glover could call the curtains on his career after this fight, and hence, will be looking to go out on a win.

“He’s gonna be (in) the best shape ever, I think so. So I have to be ready for the best Glover ever, in his life”. Blachowicz believes that the Brazilian is currently at his most dangerous. As such, he is aware of the threat that Glover possesses due to his experience and extensive fighting abilities.
“Good boxing, really good takedowns, Jiu-Jitsu high level. He’s a tough opponent”, Jan adds. Glover and Jan Blachowicz will be going head to head in the co-main event of the UFC 266 pay-per-view event on Sept.4, 2021.

Glover Teixeira Vs. Jan Blachowicz: A Preview
UFC light heavyweight champ Jan Blachowicz (28-8) will make his second title defense against Glover Teixeira in September. Previously, the Polish champ won the vacant belt by knocking out Dominick Reyes in September 2020. After a win over middleweight champ, Israel Adesanya, Blachowicz cracked ESPN’s pound-for-pound list at No. 6.

Teixeira (32-7) is the division’s clear No. 1 contender, after a surprising win streak. Previously, the Brazilian veteran unsuccessfully challenged former light heavyweight champ, Jon Jones, for the title in 2014. Since then, however, he has a middling 5-5 record from 2014 to 2018.
Most importantly, he is in fine form since the start of 2019, racking up five consecutive wins and four finishes. Recently, he is coming off a TKO finish of former title challenger Thiago Santos in November. If Glover is truly considering retirement, a win and title in hand would be the best way to go.
