UFC 262 Odds: “I Don’t See Nate Diaz Beating Leon Edwards” Predicts Gilbert Burns

Nate Diaz steps on the scale during the UFC 202 weigh-in at the MGM Grand Marquee Ballroom on August 19, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada

Gibert Burns has given his predictions for the Nate Diaz vs Leon Edwards fight. However, Burns himself will make his return to the Octagon in UFC 264 in July.

Speaking to MMA Junkie, Burns revealed his predictions for Usman vs Masvidal, his next fight, and of course Diaz vs Edwards. Nate will be making his comeback against Edwards at UFC 262. Interestingly, it is the first nontitle, five-round co-main event.

“I don’t see Nate Diaz beating Leon Edwards,” he says. Furthermore, he adds that Leon will be too much for Nate to handle. “Leon Edwards deserves the title shot and I want him to get it,” he concludes.

Edwards’ last fight against Belal Muhammad ended in a no-contest after he accidentally poked the latter’s eye. Prior to that, he’s been on an 8 fight win streak. The streak began after his loss to current champ Usman, all the way back in 2015.

On the other hand, Nate Diaz has not fought in over 2 years. His last fight was against Masvidal, where the doctor deemed him unfit to continue due to injury. Unfortunately, rumors are suggesting that Nate has been doing drugs and indulging in alcohol.

Will Nate Diaz Prove Everyone Wrong?

Fighters and reporters believe that Diaz has slipped into addiction. His partying tendencies have taken a hit on his fighting sharpness and left him unfit. As a result, everyone believes Diaz is past his fighting days.

People suspect that Diaz has hit rock bottom. Everyone feels that there is no chance he can get fight ready in such a short time. Moreover, there are speculations that the fight is simply a ‘cash grab’ for Diaz.

To add to his troubles, Edwards is currently in the form of his life. It could be ominous for Diaz’s return to the UFC. Diehard fans of ‘The Stockton Slugger’ will be hoping to once again witness his brilliance inside the Octagon.

However, Diaz has revealed that he intends to fight more regularly from now on. He has expressed his desire to fight Oliveira and Poirier but wants it to happen at welterweight. With UFC 262 soon approaching, fans will be hoping for Nate to roll back the years in front of their eyes, once again.
