The former Ultimate Fighting Championship Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight Champion is an American retired professional mixed martial artist. Daniel Cormier recently took it to Twitter, presenting his views on a statement when someone told him that Cory Sandhagen is better than Aljamain Sterling.
DC is an experienced mixed martial artist, known for the grant of Best MMA fighter ESPY award in 2019. Also, conferred for the fight of the night- UFC bonus Awards 2015.
The yore of Sterling and Sandhagen
The battle for the UFC Bantamweight title took place on June 7, 2020, at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada, United States. The fight was initially close, but further, it was all Sterling as he locked up for the submission with Sandhagen trying to resist. The first attempt did not turn up to be successful, however, Sterling got arms underneath Sandhagen’s chin finally.
Sterling locked Sandhagen’s face, forcing him to tap, and then later he was unconscious as Sterling released the hold. Holding a five-fight winning streak, including Sandhagen’s submission, can make him eligible for a world title in his next fight.
Talking about ‘The Sandman’, the 28-year fighter turned up with quite an impressive performance at the Main Event of UFC Fight Night on October 11, 2020. The fighter knocked out Marlon Moraes in the second round.
“Everyone is crazy about the ‘Greatest Of All-Time’ talk and to be there you have to do things like I did against Frankie and like I did against Marlon,”. “I want to be a champion and I know that the title shot will happen for me as long as I stay on this path.”– Sandhagen to UFC.
The American MMA fighter has somehow gained it back with many difficulties. Earlier the fighter faced a quick defeat to Aljamain Sterling at UFC 250, which also helped Sterling to secure the next shot at Petr Yan’s throne, which left Sandhagen outside of the picture.
Finally, after back-to-back amazing appearances, ‘The Sandman’ has the wheel in his hand.
Daniel Cormier’s views
The 41-year-old retired MMA fighter recently took the matter to Twitter where he presented his views.
On being told that if @funkmasterMMA fought @cors_life 100 times, Cory would win 98, Cormier considered it absurd. The fighter disagreed with what he was told and specified it as a reason for not listening to non-professionals.
Furthermore, in the same hour, the retired professional tweeted again in the manner.
The fighter believes that the competition between the two fighters is equal and not one-sided. The fighters are not exactly the same but equally talented, both have the caliber to leave no stones unturned.
However, we wait to see the Number one for Bantamweight Division. Yan and ‘Funk Master’ meet on the pay-per-view UFC 259, on March 6 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
