“There is no pressure on me” Kevin Holland Stays Chilled to Fight Marvin Vettori

Kevin Holland prepares to fight Derek Brunson in their middleweight fight during the UFC Fight Night event at UFC APEX on March 20, 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada

Kevin Holland looks set to make a quick return to the Octagon. Following his loss to Derek Brunson, ‘Trailblazer’ is looking to get back to winning ways.

The American last took to the cage just three weeks ago. Unfortunately, Kevin lost via unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs. Holland. However, this did not dampen his spirits one bit.

Instead, Holland jumped in to replace the ‘injured’ Darren Till for his fight against Marvin Vettori. Whilst, the decision surprised many, Kevin remains composed and willing to get back to work.

Speaking about his fight with Vettori he says, “There is no pressure on me. The only pressure that is on me is the pressure that people try and put on me.” Kevin feels that the fight is more Vettori’s than his.

He was also asked whether he might have wanted to take some time off following his loss to Brunson. In his reply, he said, “No. That’s for retired people. I’m young, healthy, full of motivation, full of confidence. I’m a working man.”

Crunch Time for Kevin Holland

Perhaps Kevin Holland has two alter ego personalities. Whilst ‘Big Mouth’ indulges in trash talk, ‘Trailblazer’ stays more inclined towards remaining focused and level-headed. Kevin revealed that ‘Big Mouth’ took the stage in his loss to Derek Brunson.

Following the loss, Kevin received a lot of backlash from his fans. Since then, he has vowed to get back to the lab and stabilize his wrongs. Upon taking up the fight, Holland ties the record of Deiveson Figueiredo (UFC 255 and UFC 256) for the shortest time span between fights in UFC history. It is a noteworthy task and Kevin will have to produce something special in order to prove his doubters wrong.

Although he isn’t admitting it, Holland is faced with a monumental task. Vettori currently sits on a four-win streak and could quite easily make if five if Kevin is not on his game. Hence, Kevin has promised fans that ‘Trailblazer’ will once again take the stage and hopefully bring home the victory on Saturday.
