After Khabib Nurmagomedov vacated the lightweight title, Michael Chandler has become the top contender for the championship. Chandler expressed his thoughts about Khabib, and he thinks everyone should leave the Eagle alone.

Michael Chandler will fight Charles Oliveira for the UFC lightweight title at UFC 262 event. Former Bellator lightweight champion joined the UFC last year and got his debut at UFC 257.

In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Chandler talked about his fighting plan against Oliveira. During the interview, he was asked if he thinks that Khabib is gone for good. He thinks Nurmagomedov deserves peace right now, and he should not be the talk of the topic anymore. “I think he deserves to get out of the headlines I think he deserves to go sip my ties on the beach,” Chandler stated.

Further, Chandler also suggests that every one should let him enjoy retirement. He conveyed, “You know whatever as we say and just enjoy it in retirement.”

Michael Chandler shares his fight plan

Chandler is getting his title shot in less than six months after joining UFC. So, the next bout at UFC 262 is very important for him. On the other hand, the next fight will be Charles Oliveira’s first title shot in ten years of his UFC career. Hence, he will also look for a win.

Chandler thinks he will try his best to cope with Oliveira’s ground game as the Brazilian is best at ground game. While sharing his plan, he said, “The best way I would like to go out there and finish him is just hit him hit him as hard as I can numerous times.”

Furthermore, Chandler plans to fight in the standing position as he is good at kicking and punching. “On the feet keep the keep the fight standing put him in panic mode knock him out in the first round if not the first round dick dig a little bit deeper go into the second,” the 34-year-old explained.

Charles Oliveira has multiple UFC records, notably the most submission wins in UFC’s history. It seems Chandler is concerned about that and wants to keep the opponent on his feet. So, Oliveira will get an advantage if he can ground Oliveira.
