Bellator Lightweight Champion Michael Chandler seems highly confident about fighting Michael Oliveira at UFC 262 for the UFC lightweight title on May 15. He is expecting to finish Oliveira in the second round and with the title.
Chandler has signed the contract with UFC on September 17, 2020, and debuted at UFC 257 in January. The Iron got a title shot offer in his second while many fighters have been waiting for years to get a chance. However, his outstanding MMA achievements made him worthy of getting the title shot so early.
Recently Chandler appeared in an interview with Helen Yee to discuss his fight plan. The 34-year-old seemed optimistic about defeating the opponent within the second round.
He will start punching Oliveira in the first round, which will break the opponent by halfway of the first round. “You’re going to see me coming out getting his face right away and I think that breaking of Charles Olivera should happen midway through uh the first round,” Chandler explained.
After that, he will apply the signature shot, and fish Do Bronx. “Then finish him in the second,” Chandler expressed.
What to expect from Michael Chandler vs Charles Oliveira fight?
The UFC lightweight division will finally have a new king on May 15. However, it is hard to predict the winner as both fighters are equally qualified to achieve the title.
Chandler is good at strikes, so he will try to fight in a standing position. On the other hand, Olivera is excellent on the ground with excessive speed and power.
The former Bellator champion does not think Olivera’s tactics will be a challenge for him. Michael compared Charles Olivera with other top players and found Oliveira, an easy opponent.
Oliveira will undoubtedly look for the title as it will be his first title shot in his ten years of UFC career. Do Bronx will attend the fight with a 30-8 record and nine winning streaks. Though Chandler is positive to finish the bout in just two rounds, Oliveira will surely try his best to fight back.
