Kamaru Usman putting “punch calender” for Jorge Masvidal Rematch

Kamaru Usman of Nigeria reacts after his victory over Gilbert Burns of Brazil in their UFC welterweight championship fight during the UFC 258

In his latest Instagram post, Kamaru Usman declared the date for his rematch with Jorge Masvidal. The rematch is one of the most highly anticipated fights of the year.

The fight came to be after Usman beat Gilbert Burns on February 13, and then proceeded to call out Masvidal. Usman wanted a rematch of their July 11, 2020, bout. That time, he ended up winning by unanimous decision.

However, many suggested that Usman had won the first fight due to Masvidal’s lack of prep time. The last time around, Masvidal had taken the fight on six days’ notice.

Clearly, Usman feels the need to rectify this belief, and now has a date for it as well. “4-24-21 #ANDSTILL” he captioned his latest Instagram post. Usman wanted his next defense to be against Jorge Masvidal, and he got it.

The event is being held in VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, before an expected capacity crowd of 15,000 fans. In an update from Dana White, the event was a complete sellout that was one of the fastest in the UFC’s history.
