Conor McGregor took to Instagram to wish Chris Weidman a speedy recovery, following his horrific injury. Weidman completely broke his leg in the opening seconds of his fight with Uriah Hall at UFC 261.
Chris’ foot bent grotesquely around Hall’s lower leg, and he dropped to the mat as he planted on his right foot. The former champion was reeling in agony as the bout was over in just 17 seconds. Soon after, Weidman was stretchered off.
The audience, commentary booth, and spectators sat shocked at what they witnessed. Uriah Hall was visibly in dismay as he saw his opponent taken away from the Octagon. Naturally, he was shaking after experiencing the injury up close.
He had to have a load of micro fractures in the leg possibly for it snap then. The placement of the kick was nice enough. It wasn’t fully checked. He hit the meat. Enough of it anyway. Had to have been damaged over time without knowing. Wear and tear.

However, Conor McGregor took to Instagram to try and explain what had happened. He remarked that the injury is probably due to preexisting micro-fractures on Weidman’s leg. “Had to have been damaged over time without knowing. Wear and tear,” he claims.
Hoping Chris Weidman has full recovery! Never nice to see.
Crazy is the calf kick. No skill, balance, or flexibility, or anything does it take. It’s like watching a punt of a pig skin in the 50s. Up the yard!
Crazy how it can go either way. One great for you, or real bad against— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) April 25, 2021
Moreover, Conor extended his sympathies to the former middleweight champ. He wrote, “Hoping Chris Weidman has full recovery! Never nice to see”. Surprisingly, Chris is now part of two out of the three-leg breaks in UFC history.

Chris Weidman and the Leg Break Incidents
Previously, Chris Weidman claimed the UFC middleweight title by defeating Anderson Silva at UFC 162. However, the Brazilian faced Weidman in a rematch at UFC 168 and was seemingly winning the bout. Unfortunately, Silva broke his leg after Weidman successfully checked a leg kick that folded Anderson on the deck.
Incidentally, eight years later, ‘The All-American’ experienced the same fate as Silva at UFC 261. Similar to UFC 168, Uriah Hall felt Weidman’s leg kick around his lower leg. Moreover, Weidman’s leg seemingly folded as soon as he put it back down on the canvas.

Weidman has lost the last six out of eight fights. Fans and experts feel that the middleweight is well past his prime. Now, with the extent and seriousness of his injury, it seems that Chris will have to hang up his gloves for good.
Chris also received kind messages from the likes of Anderson Silva, Francis Ngannou, and many others. Friends and foes of the fighter will be wishing him a speedy recovery and hoping for his good health.
