Usman Nurmagomedov is all set to fight Mike Hamel in their upcoming bout in Bellator 255. Usman, the cousin of former UFC Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, will be looking to do his brother proud.

The two brothers have been inseparable since they were young. Usman regularly trains with Khabib and has said that the experience is the perfect preparation for his fights, both physically and mentally.

He feels that competing with Khabib gives him an extra edge over his opponents. Evidently, there is some truth to his words as he is currently in an 11-0 record in Bellator.

“Brother, just go in there and do everything beautifully. The preparation was excellent and long, we hope only for the victory insha’Allah.” Khabib sent this message on Twitter, wishing his little brother the best for his upcoming fight.

Other than Khabib, Usman has a number of relatives who are professional MMA fighters, including Umar Nurmagomedov and Abubakar Nurmagomedov. Safe to say, fighting truly runs in the blood of the Nurmagomedovs.

Who is Usman Nurmagomedov?

Cousin of the former UFC Champion Khabib, Usman is, in fact, the first member of his family to fight under the Bellator banner. At the age of just 22, he will be making his Bellator debut against Mike Hamel.

He is also a highly touted, up-and-coming fighter who was previously sought by many companies. However, he chose to sign with Bellator as he feels that it serves as a learning ground and a stepping stone for his MMA Career. “We’ve got enough Nurmagomedovs in the UFC,” he once jokingly told a media outlet.

At the moment, Nurmagomedov is focused on making a mark in Bellator. Here, he’ll be looking to continue the legacy of his family and teammates. Ever since he retired from the UFC, Khabib has taken a primary role in cornering and coaching his family members.

Usman’s fight against the American Mike Hamel on Friday is second on the main card of Bellator 255. The main event is a showdown between Patricio Freire and Emmanuel Sanchez for the Bellator featherweight title.
