Ariel Helwani feels happy for Charles Oliveira “getting the shot” at the Lightweight title

Charles Oliveira will fight Michael Chandler at UFC 262 for the lightweight title shot on May 15, 2021. UFC declared the bout following Khabib Nurmagomedov’s announcement on vacating the title as he retired officially.

Ranked at no 3, Charles Oliveira started his MMA career in 2008 and signed a UFC contract in 2010. Although he has been fighting for more than a decade, he never allowed to attend a title shot. On the contrary, Chandler gets the title shot in less than six months after joining the UFC.

Now that Do Bronx finally heads to a title bout, ESPN’s MMA analyst Ariel Helwani expressed his feelings on that. “Charles Olivera deserved to be fighting for a title next he played you know a pretty tough hand,” Helwani discussed with Chael Sonnen.

Moreover, Helwani feels happy for Oliveira for his title shot appearance after all these years. “I am very happy that he’s getting the shot and I’m not too bothered about the fact that chandler’s getting it over at geichi,” the ESPN’s analyst conveyed.

The 31-year-old lightweight fighter does not want to miss his first title shot chance, and he aims for a win over Chandler.

Charles Oliveira prepares, considering Chandler’s fighting style. “If he takes me down, he will do me a favor. I believe he will pretty much try to keep the fight standing and repeat what he did with Dan Hooker,” Chandler explained his strategy.

Do Bronx is ready to take Chandler’s kicks and return them strongly. Oliveira conveyed, “On the contrary, for each of his attempts, I will have a stronger answer. He always comes very strong, and I’ll catch him with a counter hit.

Charles Oliveira is one of the most well-rounded fighters at 155 pounds. Although the Brazilian is best at ground fighting, he is confident in his ability to catch and finish Chandler with a counter shot in the upcoming UFC lightweight title shot.
