Aljamain Sterling Reacts to Haters Creating Unusual Controversies Over Petr Yan Rematch Cancellation

Aljamain Sterling presents his views on his fight on UFC 259 against Petr Yan

A negotiation for a possible rematch between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan has been canceled as the Funk Master will go through neck surgery. Sterling has been injured for quite a while now, but some people claimed that he has been faking it.

Previously the 31-year-old triumphed in the UFC Bantamweight Championship over Yan at UFC 259. No Mercy threw an illegal knee on round four which caused him to be disqualified and made Sterling a winner.

However, the UFC 259 title bout created certain controversies, as Sterling won the title without a complete fight. Many fellow fighters and several fans initially suggested that Funkmaster had acted in the octagon after taking illegal keen to win the title.

Now that the Jamaican American will go through a neck surgery, which proves he was not pretending, Sterling chooses to react to haters.

“For the dummies saying he’s out for 9 months and the losers who says he’s faking shit. See you in October Peanut Butter Pan. Sincerely your champ, suck it and life goes on,” he posted on Twitter.

The reigning bantamweight champion will be out of action till October. Fans may see the rematch later this year or in 2022.

Injury details of Aljamain Sterling

The doctors diagnosed him with a herniated disc and will operate on his C6-C7 vertebrae. After the surgery, Sterling will need five to six months to heal.

“They wouldn’t want to see me take a fight until they see everything has fused in my neck correctly. Five months would be ideal if I heal up really quick,” Funkmaster said in an interview.

Sterling also has an injury on a partially torn bicep and left shoulder. Although Petr Yan is ready for the rematch, Sterling’s injury will further elongate his wait.

Also, it’s unlikely that No Mercy will return to the octagon to fight any other contender and jeopardize the prospect of his title. Therefore, it’ll only be wise for him to wait until Sterling’s return.
