World automotive giant Toyota Motor Corp. (TMC) stated its commitment to support the Olympic and Paralympic event which will be held in 2020. The commitment was conveyed by Vice President of Toyota Motor Asia Pacific (TMAP) David Nordstrom representing TMC.
“We will provide cars that are disability-friendly. Including athletes,” he said in front of several Paralympic athletes from Southeast Asia at the Hilton Odaiba Hotel in Tokyo on Tuesday (10/22/2019).
He said, at the biggest sports event, his party also provided support for intelligent robots and mobility facilities. “We believe the power of sport does not only mean to athletes but also millions of people in the world,” he stressed.
David also introduced athletes who had achieved their highest achievements. Among them Saadi Abbas, karate athlete from Pakistan. which is the first athlete from South Adia who won rankings in the World Karate Federation.
Then there’s Ernie Gawilan, a Paralympic swimmer from the Philippines. Ernie was the first Filipino swimmer to win a gold medal at the Asia Paralympic event.
David also introduced Singaporean swimmer Wei Soong who is the second swimmer from Singapore who managed to win a medal in the world championship. Also Paralympic long jump athlete from Malaysia Abdul Latif Romly who won the world champion twice.
Abdul Latif is also the only Paralympic long jump athlete who managed to break the world record three times in a row in a day at the 2016 Rio Para Janeiro Paralympic Brazil last year. “We hope their passion inspires millions of people in the world,” said David.
