Tom Brady is suffering from knee surgery this offseason as per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times. Moreover, Bruce Arians conveys to Stroud that the procedure will be a minor one. The term used for the procedure is “clean up”, so it is not probable to hinder the availability of Brady, 43, for the 2021 season.
Nevertheless, any surgery the 43-year-old Tom Brady needs is surely remarkable as he was not 100% this postseason. NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero conveys, “Tom Brady played most of the season with some distress in the knee.”
Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady played 95% of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive snaps this season. He started all of his team’s 20 games, but he might not have been 100% healthy for everyone.
However, Brady’s Super Bowl run performance was even more remarkable than what everyone had in mind.
Brady led the Buccaneers with an 11-5 record. Besides, they won four playoff games concluding in a Super Bowl LV victory. Hence, if he needed time off for any reason during the season, his coach did not hesitate to give it to him.
Also, Rick Stroud tweets, “#GOBUCS Quarterback Tom Brady will have a slight surgical procedure on his knee, one that coach Bruce Arians labeled as “a cleanup.”
Tom Brady in an interview with the Los Angeles Times
In an interview with Los Angeles Times, Arians clarified that he prioritized rest for his veteran players and allowed Brady to sit out during some of his practice sessions. At first, the quarterback was cautious to do so but eventually understood Arians was okay with it.
Arians conveyed, “You have got to be super involved as a coach, but with Tom Brady, it is not about Xx and Os. It is about making sure he is comfortable. He should feel good about the game plan and workweek.”
Moreover, he would text me and say, ‘Do you mind If I do not throw on Wednesday?’ I was like, ‘Yes, I do not care.’ ‘I asked him, ‘Do you want to take mental reps or do you want to just sit back?’ ‘I just need to sit back’ says Brady. And we did that two or three times throughout the season.
Additionally, he also conveys, “Early on, I would say, ‘Hey, do you want a day off?’ And he says, ‘This will be the last day I ever take off.’ But later, it was like, ‘Do you mind If I take an off on Wednesday?’
Tom Brady enjoyed himself at Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl parade on Wednesday. Tom Brady jokes he drank avocado tequila after stumbling off the boat at the Buccaneers parade, but anyway, this procedure is dissimilar to any maritime mischiefs.
Nevertheless, Tom Brady’s knee did not seem to bother him during the Buccaneers’ Super Bowl run at all. He threw ten touchdown passes and only three interceptions in four postseason games, with a passer rating of 98.1.
Brady says he will consider playing beyond 45. With his durability and sturdiness, there is no reason we can doubt him.
