Max Holloway was just a step away from fighting Khabib Nurmagomedov for the UFC World Lightweight Championship. But he fell before Dustin Poirier, is this, as the owner of the interim division title, who went for the king of 155 pounds.

But the UFC Featherweight World Champion is still interested in that fight, and has a good reason, as he told Sirius XM.
“Honestly, I never look over my next opponent. So I am not thinking of beyond Alex (Volkanovski, against whom he will defend the title in UFC 245). But if you want to be number one pound per pound, he is the type (Khabib) . He is undefeated, he is the man. I’m sure I’ll be back at 155 pounds. And I want to fight him, for my legacy .”
No one has so far lived up to Nurmagomedov. Would Holloway be if they faced each other?
