The story of Niko Kovac with Bayern Munich officially ends. The 48-year-old coach is now unemployed because he was fired following FC Hollywood’s humiliating defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
Kovac’s visit to the Commerzbank-Arena on November 2 turned out to be his last match with Bayern. It is believed that his troops were humiliated by Frankfurt 1-5, he had to leave the club he just fostered on July 1, 2018.
Although some say the separation between Kovac and Bayern is a mutual agreement, this news is still quite surprising. Because, his performance is quite good where he was able to win the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal, and DFL-Supercup in his inaugural season.
In addition, Bayern incision this season is also not too bad. Despite the embarrassment of Frankfurt, Robert Lewandowski et al are still in the top four with 18 points from 10 matches.
They are only four points behind Borussia Moenchengladbach. That can still be cut because there are 24 more parties. In addition to being a coach, Kovac also contributed to Bayern when it used to fill the midfield. While still actively grazing, he helped the Bavarian club win the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal in 2002/2003.
The incision made Kovac the first person to record a double-winner with Bayern as both a player and coach. However, this dismissal did not make the former captain of the Croatian national team hurt. He instead thanked.
“My brother (and assistant) Robert and I, thank Bayern for a year and a half together. During that period, our team won the Bundesliga, DFB-Pokal and Supercup. It was a beautiful time. I hope the best for the club and the players, “said Kovac, reported Sky Sports.
Bayern Chief Executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also responded to the dismissal of Kovac. He stated this step needed to be taken for the good of the team. “The team’s performance and the results achieved over the past few weeks have shown that action is needed,” he explained.
