Although the UFC 243 was the PPV with the greatest audience attendance in the history of the promotion, the Preliminaries did not do well at all.

According to numbers released by Dave Meltzer of MMA Fighting, the Preliminaries of the event broadcast through ESPN 2 obtained 559,000 spectators, which is the lowest rating of the year that has been registered.

The maximum number of viewers reached by the Preliminaries was 693,000 during the fight between Callan Potter and Maki Pitolo.

It is believed that the low number of viewers is because these were the first Preliminaries to be broadcast on ESPN 2 and not on ESPN.

In the stellar fight, the local Jake Matthews took a unanimous decision on the Swedish Rostem Akham.
