Serena Williams Is Confused About Participating in Tokyo Olympics Because of Her Busy Schedule This Year

Serena Williams, the American superstar, has a busy schedule this year which might prohibit her from taking part in the upcoming Tokyo Olympics.

The Former World No.1 is unclear about playing in the prestigious event in Japan, which will take place this year because of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020.

However, she is more confused about the Olympics because of the Grand Slam. Further, Williams is not in her prime anymore to ace at every event. Thus, she wants to take slower steps, and will only play in tournaments, where she is confident to perform well.

In a recent interview, Williams claimed, “I haven’t really thought much about Tokyo. Because it was supposed to be last year and now it’s this year, and then there is this pandemic and there is so much to think about.”

“Then there is the Grand Slams. It’s just a lot. So I really have been taking it one day at a time to a fault, and I definitely need to figure out my next moves,” the American pro added.

Even Serena’s young daughter is a major reason for her not wanting to play in Olympics. Williams might not be allowed to take her girl to Japan. Thus, she said, “I haven’t spent 24 hours without her, so that kind of answers the question itself. We’re best friends.”

Serena Williams has lost her former glory, as she dropped from the top place to eighth at the WTA Rankings. The next generation keeps dominating the American veteran, and even the former World N0.1 has accepted the truth. However, she wants to keep fighting even if she can’t win because of her love for the sport. Recently at the Italian Open, Williams crossed the milestone of 1000 matches.
