Roger Federer, the Swiss veteran, is set to make his comeback in the upcoming Roland Garros. Further, former player Patrick McEnroe says the Swiss pro doesn’t play with ‘the sole intention of winning.’
Federer has been out of the sport for more than a year after undergoing two surgeries for his knee injury last year. However, the Swiss star took part in the 2021 Doha Open but got knocked out at the quarter-finals. Therefore, King Federer went back home to rest his body and work on his form.

The 39-year-old player is aiming for the titles in Halle and Wimbledon. As a result, the ‘King of Grass’ is going for the French clay court prior to the grass court. Federer knows he can’t go far in the French Open but the slow clay court will help him to get back his pace for the grass.
Even McEnroe agreed with Federer and claimed the Swiss never plays to win matches but there is always another reason behind Roger’s every action.

Patrick McEnroe, the former American tennis player talks about Roger Federer participating in the upcoming Roland Garros in late May.
Former World No. 28 said, “He enjoys playing. I don’t think he plays with the sole intention of winning every tournament, and I think that’s part of his popularity and sustainability. Even when Roger was at his top level, he was the second-best clay-court player in the world, which is saying a lot, ”
“I don’t think we can say that now, especially after such a long period of shutdown.” He added as the player has been out of the sport for a year.
Rog is gearing up at his home in Geneva and might also take part in Geneva Open to get the experience of playing on clay prior to the French Open. The Former World No.1 currently ranks eighth and shares the title of ‘Big Three’ with Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

Roger Federer might face Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic at the French Open 2021.
Further, Roger Federer might also have to face the other two of the ‘Big Three’ at the upcoming French Grand Slam. Therefore, the tournament in late May is going to be tough for the Swiss professional.
