
Rafael Nadal’s uncle, Toni Nadal, the mentor of the Spaniard during his early days, is set to coach the Canadian Prodigy Felix Auger-Aliassime.
In a recent interview, the 20-year-old Canadian revealed to be trained by the person who shaped the King of the Clay. The duo of Toni and Felix have already worked together at Rafa’s tennis academy and are now set to work on a longer-term.

Toni already acknowledged the potential of the young player and claims the boy will be at the peak of the sport. The Spanish coach reported on his expectations from Felix, “Felix is a boy who theoretically he has to be among the best in the world in the coming years.”

The 20-year-old Canadian is one of the most promising players from the younger generation. Further, he will be trained by the man behind Spain’s Raging Bull since the upcoming tournament in Monaco.

Toni Nadal will join Auger-Aliassime for the upcoming 1000 circuit at Monte Carlo. There is a possibility for the young player to face his mentor’s nephew in the tournament. However, it will be tougher for the Spanish coach as one is a former student and nephew while the other is his new apprentice.

Toni revealed his conversation with his nephew when he first saw him playing against Rafael and said, ” I told him: ‘this boy is going to be very good ‘.” Rafa’s uncle further asserted his happiness to train Felix, “I have been fortunate to work my whole life with a boy who has been respectful and has given a good image and aspired to the same thing. Felix is a boy who theoretically he has to be among the best in the world in the coming years.”

The Spaniard claimed it was a hard time while training Rafel because he had to compete against talents like Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Juan Carlos Ferrero. But this time with World No. 22, Toni would be against challengers like Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Alexander Zverev.
Felix is preparing with his new mentor for the Monte Carlo Masters starting on Sunday, April 11. Rafael Nadal’s uncle might provide another star player to the world of tennis.
