In a recent ATP Tour interview, Nadal expressed, “Carlos [Alcaraz] is an amazing player, today he already has an amazing level of tennis. Probably he will be one of the best players in the world soon.”

“It will be a big challenge for me and hopefully for him too (chuckling), so let’s see. I don’t know, I [will] just focus and try to be ready, to have the right preparation and to be playing well for the beginning of the tournament so then let’s see.” The 34-years-old further added.

The World No.120 made his Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open this year, where he made his way up to the second round. However, lost to Swedish Mikael Ymer with a score of 6-2, 4-6, 4-6, 6 (5)- 7 (7). After the Grand Slam, the Spaniard further showcased his potential at circuits like Miami, Mexico and Barcelona. Further, the Alcaraz was exceptional at the Andalucia Open this year. But lost to fellow countryman Jaume Munar in the semi-finals.

After the defeat at the Estoril Open last month, Carlos Alcaraz is taking part in the 1000 circuit at Madrid. He made his way past the Madrid Open qualifiers to the first round against the Spain’s Raging Bull. We might witness an epic match between two talented Spaniards.
