“It Is Going to Be a Battle”: Novak Djokovic Ready to Face a Top 10 in Italian Open

Novak Djokovic is gearing up to face a Top 10 player in the quarter-finals of the Italian Open.

Novak Djokovic, the Serbian maestro, became the first quarter-finalist of the Italian Open and will play against a Top 10 player. Thus, the Serb claims the next match “is going to be a battle.”

The World No.1 faced the Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the previous round and won with a straight score of 6-2, 6-1. Therefore, the first seeded Djokovic will now face the World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas in the quarter-finals.

The 34-year-old has previously gone head-to-head against the Greek in six matches. Further, the Serb won four matches out of the six encounters. Thus, Djokovic is looking forward to fighting the Top 10 player in the next round.

In a recent interview, Novak reported, “My next match will be against a Top 10 player, so it is going to be a battle,” Djokovic said before Tsitsipas’ victory.”

Further, Tsitsipas won the Monte-Carlo Masters, whereas Nole couldn’t even make his way past the round of 16 against Dan Evans. Therefore, the Serb is even more motivated to defeat the Greek star. Djokovic claimed, “Tsitsipas won Monte-Carlo… I am obviously going to do my best to win that match.”

The World No.1 had his biggest achievement in February this year, winning the Australian Grand Slam title for the ninth time. However, he couldn’t shine in any tournament since then. Thus, the Serbian veteran is looking forward to winning the Internazionali BNL d’Italia.

The Greek pro Tsitsipas faced World No.9, Matteo Berrettini in the R16 at the Italian clay court and won with a score of 7 (7)-6 (3), 6-2. Now, he’s looking forward to defeat another Top 10 player in the quarter-finals.

Novak Djokovic needs to pull up his socks as the Serbian is on the throne of ATP Rank 1 for 320 weeks. Thus, players like Rafael Nadal, Daniil Medvedev, and Tsitsipas are a constant threat to the Serb’s title.
