“I am happy with my performance”- Andrey Rublev crawled to the Rotterdam final

Andrey Rublev moved to the finals of ATP 500 Rotterdam 2021 tour.

The Russian Andrey Rublev progressed to his fourth ATP 500 singles final by taking down Stefanos Tsitsipas and equalized his Head2Head with the Greek at 3-3.

World number 8 holds a record of seven ATP tour titles and also a consecutive victory of three 500 series titles. He faced the world number 6, on Saturday, 6 March, in Rotterdam and his victory over the Greek extended his winning streak to 19 matches in the event.

The 23-year-old displayed his skillful use of the forehand in the match, blocking all the five breakpoints from the Greek star. However, Tsitsipas pressurized the Greek throughout the match, further pushing him to a tiebreaker. But Rublev dominated the entire tiebreaker and aced the semi-finals within just one hour and 37 minutes with a score of 6-3, 7-6 (7/2).

The Russian star will next face the Hungarian, Marton Fucsovics, in the Rotterdam final. Later, in an on-court interview, he mentioned his excitement to face stronger opponents in such prestigious tournaments, and playing in finals is always a special event for the Russian.

“[I play tennis] to play at the best level, to play at the best tournaments, to try to compete, then to go deep and to try to win them,” said the world number eight. “A final is always special, so I am going to try to do my best tomorrow.”

The young Russian is pleased with his performance so far and wants to improve his skills further and win his eighth singles title. Andrey Rublev said, “I am happy with my performance. I am happy that I am in a final,”

“I won some great matches. Everything is going well. I just want to keep working, keep trying to improve, and we will see what is going to happen.”

Rublev will go against world number 59 on 7 March 2021, in the ATP 500 Rotterdam. Subsequently, we might witness the Russian, winning his eighth singles title on the Sunday match.
