Daniil Medvedev Tested COVID-19 Positive , Exits From Rolex Monte Carlo Masters Tournament – ATP

Russian Tennis star Daniil Medvedev tested Covid-19 positive, as reported by ATP here on Tuesday in an official statement

In an unfortunate turn of events, Russian Tennis star, Daniil Medvedev has reportedly tested Covid-19 positive. According to an official statement released by ATP on Twitter, world No. 2 has been barred from the Rolex Monte Carlo Masters.

The respective medical teams of the organizing committee and ATP are closely monitoring Daniil Medvedev while he is in quarantine. “It’s a big disappointment not to play in Monte-Carlo. My focus is now on recovery and I look forward to getting back out on Tour as soon and as safely as possible,” Medvedev said in an official statement.

We must mention here that the Russian Tennis star grabbed the second seed in this week’s ATP Masters 1000 event on clay. Now, given his medical situation, he seems doubtful about the upcoming ATP events later this month.

This isn’t the first time when the Tennis fraternity is facing the demons of Novel Coronavirus. During the season’s first grand slam event at Melbourne as well, one of the players tested Corona positive.

With Medvedev being the recent victim of this virus, questions are surely going to be put up on the testing and quarantine facilities at the Monte Carlo event.
