Tottenham Rookie Maskim Paskotsi Gets “Unexpected” Chance To Play For Estonia In World Cup Qualifiers

Maskim Paskotsi realized his lifelong dream when the rookie made his International debut in the ongoing World Cup qualifiers. The 18-year-old defender represented Estonia against the Czech Republic but the night wasn’t too kind for the youngster.

Estonia lost the match 6-2 but Paskotsi’s confidence will be elevated, playing at the senior level. Maskim was a part of Estonia’s U-23 set-up before being promoted to the starting XI of the senior squad. The youngster took a lot of pride while representing his country at the highest level.

Speaking to, Paskotsi said, “It’s the best feeling and a huge honour for me as a player and a person to represent my country at such a young age”, is what the Estonian said.

He added, “I’ve always dreamed of playing for the national team, but I didn’t expect that this would happen so quickly and unexpectedly”.

Maskim also thanked his family and friends for their constant support. “My family is happy and proud, because they know what it means for me to play for Estonia. My friends have also supported and congratulated me, so I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who said some kind words after my debut”.

After losing against the Czech Republic, Estonia will next face Belarus in the World Cup qualifiers. They also have the likes of Belgium and Wales in their group, thus things will be tough for Maskim and company going forward.

The 18-year-old is however ready for the challenge. He said, “Everything is about the team, though, and I am fully focused on the job I need to do. Of course, we want to win the next two games and do that as a team, together. Now we have to recover and prepare for the next game, which is an important one for us”.

Club Career Of Maskim Paskotsi

Markim Paskotsi is a regular starter for the Spurs in their U-18 side. He joined the Tottenham academy from his boyhood club Flora Tallian, in the last summer window.

Being a center-half, the youngster made his debut in a quite remarkable fashion. The Estonian scored, provided an assist, and kept a clean sheet in his very first appearance.

Despite being so young, he did represent in the U-21 and senior level during his time at Flora. He played the semifinals for his then club and eventually, Flora went on to win the trophy. He again represented them in August 2020 in the second-round match against Parnu JK.

Thus, even after being so young, Markim knows what it takes to play at the highest level. He has tremendous potential and Tottenham, who’s known for grooming young talents can bring the best out of him. If he’s taken good care of then it’s easy that Tottenham’s defensive problems will be sorted in the near future.
