Thomas Tuchel is delighted with his team’s progression to the Quarter-Finals of the Champions League. But he feels that the task ahead will be perilous for the Blues due to the competitive nature of the tournament.

Chelsea beat Atletico Madrid over two legs by a three-nil aggregate to move to the next stage of the competition. The advancements they have had so far were smooth in transition. They also remain unbeaten in all the games they have played in the competition, asserting their dominance in the UCL.

Nevertheless, Thomas Tuchel believes that the real challenge for any UCL team begins with their entry into the last eight. In an interview on March 18th, 2021, he said, “The step into the last eight is a big step for Chelsea. However, whatever comes our way, I am confident that my team is ready to overcome it. We have proven ourselves to be a force to reckon with. There are no teams around who will want to play against us in any competition.”

Tuchel has gotten Chelsea back into the Quarter Final after fifteen years

Consequently, Chelsea has had a tough go of it in their previous Champions League ventures. In the eight years that they have played in the UCL, Chelsea won it once, entered the semi-finals twice, and was eliminated from the Q/F once. After 2006, Chelsea has never gone beyond the Round of 16, until their recent progression.

Fortunately for the Blues, Thomas Tuchel is capable of taking a team to the Quarter Finals and beyond. On April 12th, 2017, the German faced Monaco (6-3) with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League’s Quarter-Finals and lost to them. Two seasons later, he reached the Champions League finals with PSG and lost to Bayern on August 24th, 2020.

Keeping aside his losses, the positions he has taken with the teams he managed are enough to make Chelsea fans salivate at the idea of more extensive prospects for their team in this season and the many more that are to come.

Thomas Tuchel is a capable manager, and over the years, he has shown it. If given time, he will take clubs to their height associated with their hidden potential, and for Chelsea, the results are evident with their positioning on the league table and their climb in the UCL.

Chelsea was in a lousy position prior to the forty-seven-year-olds arrival at Stamford Bridge. They had spent a hundred and fifty million in the transfer market for marquee signings like Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, and Kai Havertz. The three forwards have contributed sixteen goals and fifteen assists in a hundred and eight EPL appearances this season.

All these forwards had recorded goals and assists with double-digit values before they moved to Chelsea.

Fortunately for them, Thomas Tuchel knew how to utilize them as soon as he took charge. He gave them a few appearances off the bench and in Carabao Cup games to assess them a bit better.

The overall conclusion that he came to was that they needed to play the entire ninety minutes without the support of each other. In a short time, they came into their own and started contributing more to their games.

Tuchel managed to find their weak links and address them. However, their individual dedication and the need to impress their manager gave these players a new start at Stamford Bridge.

Thus, they are slowly becoming a vital part of Blue’s team. Therefore, making a more significant impact in the next season under Tuchel and live up to their ridiculous transfer fees.
