'Seven Years Without Tito Vilanova' FC Barcelona Shares delightful Memory in Remembrance of Former Barca Legend

The Tito Vilanova remembrance day has once again seen Barcelona give their annual tribute to the former Barcelona legend. Tito Vilanova died from throat cancer seven years ago on 25th April 2014.

Tito Vilanova left a legacy at Barcelona that has embedded itself in the hearts of all the Barca players. He in particular had a great understanding with Lionel Messi and the Argentine revered him as well.

In remembrance of the Spaniard, Barcelona created a post on Twitter, with the caption, “Seven years have passed without Tito Vilanova at Bacrcelona.”

“Forever in our hearts” stated the post.

Barcelona remembers Vilanova for his achievements as a coach.

The Spaniard first came to Barcelona as a young player and joined Barca’s C team. Thus, Tito spent three years in total with Barcelona’s youth ranks and failed to make his way into the first team. Therefore, his time with Barcelona came to a disappointing end.

However, the Spaniard got another chance with Barcelona when Pep Guardiola requested him to be his assistant at the Camp Nou. This became the crucial turning point for Tito as he learned a lot from the legendary Spanish coach.

When Pep left Barcelona to take up the vacant role of the head coach at Bayern Munich, he replaced his former boss as the head of the Blaugrana.

Once he took up the role, many questioned his capability. The questions arose since he lacked high experience as the other managers who were considered for the role.

But, Tito overcame all obstacles, and after his first (and last) season with Barca, he recorded 35 wins, 6 draws, and 5 losses in 45 games.

By accumulating such a pious record the Spaniard won the La Liga title in his first season. Unfortunately, he could only reach the Semi-Finals of the Champions League and the Copa Del Ray.

The Spanish strategist could only stay for one season with the Catalans; however, he did more for them in one season, which many managers after him have struggled to achieve.
