Sergio Aguero, the Argentine forward will leave the Etihad Stadium at end of the season. Thus, the football pundit Paul Merson remarked Manchester City will lose an “Absolute Legend”.
The 32-year-old striker is the highest goal scorer in the club history with 257 goals and therefore, Merson brings up the question that The Sky Blues might already have a talented player who can replace Aguero.
The football pundit mentions there are many legends in the sport but the Argentine is the best in the English Premier League.
Paul Merson reported to Sky Sports, “Legend is a term bandied about too much in football, but in Premier League terms Sergio Aguero is an absolute legend.”
What Should Man City do to replace Sergio Aguero?
Kun joined the Cityzen in 2011 for a reported fee of around £35 million and became part of the legendary squad of the 2011-12 season, which changed the club history, winning the first English league title for the club.
Most players like Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Yaya Toure, Vincent Kompany, and David Silva from the legendary 2011-12 squad already said their farewell to the club. But Aguero was the last player from that memorable squad, and his departure will scar Man City.
But to avoid such damage from happening, the City needs to look for talented players like Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, or Erling Haaland to continue Sergio’s legacy in the club. As the T-shirt No.10 is the ‘goal machine’ for the club who led the team to many victories. Therefore, the replacement will have a tremendous responsibility on his shoulders.
The Argentine has picked many injuries in the past season which affected his physique but still is the best in the club, so if they don’t have any suitable replacement for him, then letting him go will be the biggest mistake of City.
There are many clubs like Liverpool, Barcelona, and Real Madrid that have shown their interest in getting their hands on the Argentine.
Man City is showcasing an excellent performance and has a big chance to win a quadruple this season. They are leading the Premier League table and also doing great in the FA Cup, Champions League, and EFL Cup. Therefore, Aguero still has a huge role to help the club claim the quadruple before saying goodbye. We can expect the best from Sergio Kun, no matter where he goes after Manchester City.
