Scott Parker felt dejected at Craven Cottage as Fulham lost to Leeds by two-one goals on March 19th, 2021. The Englishman had a moment of elation as Joachim Andersen squared the equalizer for the hosts. Soon enough, the Cottagers lost their hold on the game as Raphinha bundled home a goal and gifted the lead to The Peacocks.

Following the game, Parker admitted his frustrations to the media. In an interview on March 20th, 2021, he said, “I felt that we huffed and puffed till our lungs gave up and yet we could not tear down their defense in the first half. In truth, we were disappointing, and there are no excuses that can justify how we played today. We did not deserve to win the game, and I feel the better team beat us today.”

After the game, Parker was furious over his team’s inability to keep up with the game plan. Fulham has found themselves in the relegation zone.

Consequently, a win over Leeds would have guided them out of the zone and given a breather to Scott Parker. Subsequently, the loss has choked Parker with pressure from the Fulham management. Parker will thus have to convince them that the season is not over for the Cottagers just yet.

Summarizing Scott’s season in the Premier League

Scott Parker went up against Mikel Arteta in Fulham’s first game of the 2020-21 season on September 12th, 2020. The Cottagers, as a newly promoted side, were swept aside by Arsenal promptly by a three-goal margin. Since then, Scott Parker has recorded fourteen losses, eleven draws, and five wins in thirty Premier League appearances.

Though their season started on a sad note, they have proven their worth as giant killers in a few fixtures. On November 30th, 2020, they beat the formidable Leicester City in a two-one victory at the King Power Stadium. Then they beat Everton by two-nil on February 14th, 2021, at Goodison Park. Following which they thwarted Liverpool at Anfield on March 7th, 2021.

There are only a few games that they have shown their potential in. However, the fact that all these teams lost to Fulham at their home grounds should give due credit to the managerial skills of Scott Parker. The forty-year-old Englishman will be proud of himself and his team for achieving that.

Furthermore, Scott Parker is adept at making his team defensively gifted. Hence, they have recorded more draws than wins this season. Nevertheless, with eight games left to be played in the EPL, Scott cannot afford to draw games for a chance at surviving the relegation zone battle.

Scotty has faced Aston Villa on two occasions since arriving at Craven Cottage on February 28th, 2019. The first meet was in the FA Cup on January 4th, 2020, and the Cottagers beat the Villains by two-one. In the second fixture, Dean Smith had the last laugh as his team beat Scott Parker and Fulham by three-nil on September 28th, 2020.

They will face each other once again on April 4th, 2021, as Dean Smith looks to increase his sides positioning on the table, and Scott Parker will want to win to save his side from the relegation zone.

After Villa acquired Emiliano Martinez from Arsenal on September 16th, 2020, they have recorded fourteen clean sheets and conceded just twenty-eight in the EPL. The Argentine keeper was vital in keeping Fulham from scoring in their first meet this season in the Premier League.

Moreover, Ollie Watkins and Jack Grealish have contributed to making the season less troublesome for the Villains through their goalscoring capabilities. They have recorded sixteen goals and thirteen assists in forty-nine Premier League appearances as a duo.

With Martinez on point in front of the goal and Watkins and Grealish leading the line against Fulham, Villa Park will stand witness to a goal-fest. If Fulham’s players decide to score, it will be exciting for the fans to spectate over their phones and television sets.

The record now stands at one-one. Both these managers will be looking to secure the win and increase their records against each other. Therefore, anything can happen come April, and Scott Parker’s survival as a coach would come down to his talent in keeping the Cottagers in the EPL this season.
