Ronald Koeman has expressed his joy over Barcelona’s resurgence in the La Liga title race. Following the win over Villareal on 25th April 2021, Barcelona found themselves in a situation that favors their title run.
Ronald Koeman knows the time and effort that his team have taken to get back to the second position. By winning the last game, Barca have cut the points gap between themselves and first-place Atletico Madrid.
In an interview on 29th April 2021, Koeman said, “It’s truly an unexpected situation that we find ourselves in.”

” Through our win, we have cut down the points difference between us and Aleti” said Ronald Koeman.
Barcelona had a terrible start to their current season with the Champions League slipping out of their hands following a defeat to PSG in the Round of 16.

Their run in the La Liga did not promote much confidence within the Barca ranks. Thus the calls for Koeman’s sacking became more intensified. In the 32 games that the Catalans have played in La Liga, Ronald Koeman has won 22, drew and lost 5.
Of the games that they lost, many of them could have easily been recorded as a Barca win if not for Koeman experimenting with the side.
But, the Dutchman wanted to make sure that he knew what his best starting eleven before asking them to win games for him. It did not reduce until 18th April 2021, when the Blaugrana beat Atheltic Bilbao dominantly to win the Copa del Rey.
Then the calls for Koeman’s head thus started coming down, but then Koeman faced a new issue of how to convince Lionel Messi to stay back at Nou Camp. Therefore, Ronald Koeman has solved one issue only for another to take it’s place.
