Mesut Ozil Claims ‘Rehab Is Going Well’, Thanks Healthcare Team With a Tweet

Mesut Ozil

After moving to Fenerbahce in the winter transfer window, the time hasn’t been too kind for Mesut Ozil. The player suffered a horrible injury against Antalyaspor in his recent outing for the club. The 32-year-old suffered this injury after a collision with Fredy in which German fell awkwardly. He couldn’t continue the match and was subbed off immediately.

The German pointed out that he tore his outer ligament in his ankle but according to few reports it’s just not that. Former Arsenal and Real Madrid midfielder is suspected to have partial tears to his inner and outer lateral ankle ligaments as well.

Ozil went through an operation in his leg on Thursday and took to Twitter to say, “Rehab is going well. Trying everything to be back on the pitch with my team soon again”.

We expect the German to be out for Four-Six weeks because of this. It’s a colossal blow for Fenerbahce, considering the fact that they are still pushing for the league title. The club is currently 5 points behind the league leaders Besiktas and 3 points behind Galatasaray. Thus losing one of their top players in a crucial stage is tough for the club.

Mesut Ozil – post Arsenal

It’s true that Ozil is yet to score a goal or assist for his new club but players like him can always make an impact at any point. Ozil represented Fenerbahce seven times this season and lost three in the process. Thus, one can always point out his performance but again, players like him can change the fate of the game at any point of the match.

Ozil didn’t receive the proper attention for a long time in Arsenal. Mikel Arteta didn’t use him for 9 long months and thus it’s expected that the number 11 will need some time before coming back into form. For now, the club needs to handle the situation with utmost care so that Ozil doesn’t get ruled out for the remainder of the season.
