“Ramos is my Idol” Romero reveals how fond he is of Sergio Ramos

Real Madrid and Atalanta will face for the first leg of their round of 16 matchup on Wednesday night. However, for the Los Blancos, their captain and center-back Sergio Ramos is expected to be sidelined.

Ramos is still recovering from a damaged meniscus in his left knee. This injury as kept Ramos sidelined since February 6 as he underwent surgery. Without him, there would be a huge void left for in the defense.

Due to Ramos’ injury, Atalanta will have a better chance to potentially defeat the Spanish giants. Their 22-year-old defender Cristian Romero will get a chance to show off his skills against such a huge opponent.

Sergio Ramos has been missing through injury

Sergio Ramos has been one of the best defenders in the world for more than a decade. Additionally, he has been a crucial part for Madrid’s success over the years. It’s not a surprise that during his career, he has inspired many young players. Recently Cristian Romero revealed his thoughts on Ramos. He said:

“I have followed Sergio Ramos since I was little because I have always enjoyed watching Real Madrid. Especially when he played against Barcelona, because [Lionel] Messi was on the pitch. Sergio is undoubtedly one of my idols and for them, it will be an important absence.”

Romero further talked praised the Spanish juggernauts, Real Madrid.

“Real are undoubtedly a club that has a great history. At the moment, they are not in the best shape but we are focused on ourselves. We believe we can win. We believe in ourselves, we must put down a great performance to go through to the quarter-finals at the expense of such a strong and prestigious opponent. It will be very difficult, but we are confident in our means, we will continue to offer our football.”
