Pep Guardiola has eleven games left in the Premier League to compete for, in order to crown his team as the new champions. Since his arrival at Manchester City from Barcelona on February 1st, 2016, Pep has won three Premier League trophies.
The reigning champions, Liverpool, currently reside at the sixth position on the points table. The Spaniard is confident about his team’s chances of winning the league. In an interview, Pep Guardiola humbly responded, “Liverpool are the champions, and we will try our best to take the title from them.” His comments suggest he expects a fight from the Merseyside giants till the current season is concluded on May 23rd, 2021.
Guardiola is afraid of Liverpool
Consequently, Guardiola is right in his worry about the danger he could face from Liverpool because on May 12th, 2019, when the Citizens won the title, they had done so by just one point.
Pep Guardiola said in an interview, “This was the toughest season I have had taking into my years in Germany and Spain, but in the end, we won the title.” He further added, “We had to win fourteen games in a row to win the title.”
Jurgen Klopp refused to give up, and he motivated his team to garner as many wins as their opponents. Through his actions, he gave Pep Guardiola a fight until the end of the season and a reason to fear his team’s capabilities.

Guardiola says Man City will try to take the title from Liverpool
Pep’s fear of a Liverpool comeback is ludicrous. The champions are twenty-three points away from Manchester City on the Premier League table.
Furthermore, the Merseyside reds will have to forfeit their title on May 23rd, 2021, should Pep Guardiola maintain his side’s momentum.
Pep Guardiola has shifted his focus to second-placed Manchester United

Guardiola feels Manchester United are potential title rivals for this season and the next
Pep is wary of the danger presented by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United team. Subsequently, he believes that further additions to the current Red Devils team will boost their chances in the title race.
In an interview, Guardiola mentioned that “Manchester United is the only team we need to worry about. They will play tomorrow, and after a couple of days, we will host them at our stadium.”
Man City has a fifteen points difference from their Manchester rivals on the table. But with a couple of games left to play, the Red Devils could reduce the distance if the Citizens lose their momentum.
They have won twenty-one times consecutively this season. However, their next match against Manchester United will present a challenge. They hold a record of three wins, three losses, and a draw against their rivals in the Manchester Derby.
The record that Pep has against the Red Devils suggests that a win at the Etihad Stadium on March 7th, 2021 is a possibility. However, Ole will be working to ensure that his team does not suffer a defeat and can secure the three points for themselves.
