Mbappe has led Paris St Germain to their second victory in the first leg over Barcelona in the last-16 knockout stages on February 17th, 2021. The score at the end of the game was four to one in favor of the Parisian giants.
The young French striker contributed a hat-trick, which also helped his team gain four away goals to their advantage, going into the knock fixture’s second leg. It can be said nevertheless that Mbappe’s performance on the field was dazzling at best. However, it was his off-the-field predictions that would better define the type of person he is.
Mbappe has seen three managers in his four years at Les Rouge et Bleu. Nevertheless, Mbappe has felt a strong attachment to his current manager, Mauricio Pochettino.
Mbappe adores the Argentinian coach to such an extent wherein he asked his boss, “when was the last time he had won a game at the Nou Camp,” before the first leg commenced. Pochettino told him that “he had won there once with Espanyol.” Mauricio Pochettino revealed to reporters that Mbappe looked at him diligently and said, “We will win a second time.”
Furthermore, the PSG manager said, “After the game, he looked at me once more and said I give you our second victory.” The Argentine strategist heaped further praise on his young superstar by saying, “There is no doubt that Mbappe is one of the best in the world at the moment.”
Mbappe will soon take over the throne of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo says, Rio Ferdinand
Rio Ferdinand, in an interview with B.T. Sport, said, “he is a player who has proven himself to be out of the world. He is in a league of his own and will soon take over from the G.O.A.T. players like Messi and Ronaldo.”
Ferdinand believes Mbappe has proven himself to be a top standard player in the World Cup, Ligue 1, and the Champions League.
Ferdinand is not the only former Manchester United player who holds this opinion of Mbappe. Owen Hargreaves mentioned that Mbappe “is a lot similar to Brazilian legend Ronaldo and P.S.G. have to do their all tie him down to a new contract.”
