Former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand called the European Super League idea a “disgrace” and hit out at the plan makers. The football World is dismantled and the fans are in deep shock at such a proposal.
The living United legend is strictly against the proposed European Super League and said to be embarrassed that he is a former United player and a fan. Many United legends such as him and Gary Neville too voiced their protest against such an idea.
Talking to the BT Sport during the FA Cup clash between Southampton and Leicester City, the 42- year-old Englishman conveyed, “I think this breakaway group of teams, this is a war on football. It’s a disgrace. It’s embarrassing. And it goes against everything football is about. It’s a closed shop for these bigwigs and it’s completely and utterly only about one thing and that’s money. The rich are getting richer and the others are not even being considered”

Rio Ferdinand asserted, “There’s no consideration for the history, for the people in the different parts of the pyramid below the top, top teams that they’re trying to separate from. It’s a disgrace, I can’t believe it. How have they got the audacity to do it in the climate we’re in at the moment with the pandemic around the world?

There are talks that Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund from Bundesliga and Paris St Germain from Ligue 1 might join the 12 teams at European Super League. However, the fans are furious over this decision and European governing body has strictly stood against such a move by taking massive measure of disqualifying every team to take part in the much controversial European Super League.
