La Liga President Javier Tebas is Looking For “Protective Measures”, Rather Than Sanctions

La Liga President Javier Tebas is Looking For "Protective Measures", Rather Than Sanctions

Javier Tebas will not punish Real Madrid and Barcelona for their role in the Super league. Instead, the La Liga President will impose sanctions on the Spanish league’s two biggest clubs.

In light of the European Super League, Spanish teams Barcelona and Real Madrid joined the fray as the founding members. This news came to the table of Javier Tebas. Thus he sent a warning to both the teams to rethink their decision.

Unfortunately, the threats seem to have fallen on deaf ears as Florentino Perez does not wish to wrap up the ESL any time soon.

In an interview on 22nd April 2021, Tebas said that “We at La Liga do not want to punish anyone. At the same time we will impose sanctions on the clubs in question with regards to protective measures.”

Through Javier’s comments, it seems the Spaniard wants his relationship with Madrid and Barca to remain firm. Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have earned the La Liga title on multiple occasions. It can also be said that the Spanish bank BBVA has invested in the La Liga for the reason that these two Spanish clubs boost the competitive attitude in the other 18 clubs in the league. By punishing the guilty parties, Javier Tebas would be signaling the end of La Liga, hence he wishes for an amicable solution.

Nevertheless, it would be hard for a President to run a league, where two out of the three major players refuse to stand by their league’s moral code.

The European Super League has ended and with it, the rebellion of the Blaugrana and Los Vikingos comes to an end as well.

Tebas cannot hide his joy over the fact that ESL will not be a problem in the future. In an interview on 22nd April 2021, he said, “As far as we are concerned, the Super League does not pose a threat anymore.”

This comment delight the fans of the clubs who are the founding members of the ESL.

However, the ideology behind the twelve clubs decision to join the league, remains unknown.
