Koeman saw his dreams of lifting the Champions League trophy, with Barcelona slowly lifting away as the final whistle was blown at the Nou Camp stadium on February 17th, 2021.

Koeman and Barcelona face an uphill battle against Paris St Germain after the Parisians annihilated them by a four to one margin. PSG has a massive advantage going into the second leg on March 11th, 2021, at the Parc des Princes. After the loss, he said, “the loss to PSG highlights the dire need to rebuild the club to return to their days of glory.”

On August 19th, 2020, he joined Barcelona and has faced criticisms from the Barcelona faithful for his poor decision-making abilities.

Moreover, Barcelona registered their worst tally ever with eight points after just six games played under the guidance of Koeman.

However, Barcelona fans used to adore the former Netherlands international player. Koeman joined Barcelona in 1989 to rejoin his former manager, Johan Cruyff. Under his tutelage, he won back-to-back Spanish Premiership titles for four years straight.

Though primarily a defender, he created a name in the hearts of the ‘cules’ for scoring the winning goal that won the Blaugrana, their first European title in the year 1989. Koeman went on to achieve ninety goals in his time at Barcelona, becoming their record-scoring defender.

There have been some specific talks at the Nou Camp that take pity on his situation. Accordingly, the talks suggested that “the Netherlands manager was provided with an aging and disjointed side when he succeeded from Quique Setien on August 19th, 2020“.

However, Koeman, aware of his weaknesses, expressed his doubts about their chances of a victory at the Nou Camp. Furthermore, he statesBarcelona do not possess the intensity to beat PSG once again.”

Also, he said, “I will not hope for anything since 4-1 is a big margin to expect a miracle.”

Barcelona and Koeman should find common ground if they wish to fight back and win a sixth Champions League title.
