Former French footballer Johan Cedric Micoud expressed that Karim Benzema’s reinstatement is not a matter of joke anymore. Karim Benzema and France National Team’s drift has been a long footballing issue over the past few years.
The current Real Madrid striker hasn’t played for his nation since 2015 after his alleged role in a sex-tape blackmail went public. The Frenchman was involved in the alleged incident with his fellow national teammate Mathieu Valbuena.
France recently had a World Cup 2022 Qatar Qualifier match with Kazakhstan. The Les Blues won the match with 2-0 margin. Meanwhile, a local journalist in Kazakhstan asked the French coach Didier Deschamps about the situation of the France National Team and Benzema’s call up. Deschamps laughed and conveyed, “Even here? I’m sure a French journalist must have told you to ask that.”

This, in fact didn’t go down too well with Johan Micoud. Micoud, who’s in support of Benzema to be reinstated in the national side called this an utter disappointment and stated, “It just makes him (Deschamps) laugh. I find it terrible not to see Benzema with France again. It doesn’t make me laugh at all. I don’t understand why he (Deschamps) didn’t respond… Because he would also have to be annoyed when he is asked why the best French striker is not in the national team.”
Sex-tape or racist comment, which one’s keeping Karim Benzema away?
The 33-year-old Madrid striker is having one of the best time of his career with Real Madrid. Fans as well as football experts are in a dilemma and confusion as to why the Big Benz is still out of the team.
Benzema, however got into another controversy when he allegedly termed “half of France” as racist. This too didn’t go down well within the fans and french pundits. Even some former French footballers are against the reinstatement of Benzema into the national side and they want strict apology over the statement made by him.
